Ottawa/Gatineau Hooping community
Our Hooping community here in Ottawa is very active. Classes and jams happen weekly and when the weather is nice you’ll often see hoopers outside in parks and at music events.
Classes in Ottawa

Jams – open community practice sessions
Jams are community events to promote practice and sharing in the movement arts. Bring your hoop, your poi, or your juggling gear and your fire props (for outdoors jams) and come play or just hang out with us for these community meets in great practice spaces or out in beautiful parks. Open to all and free (or small fee to cover the space rental). These are not classes though you are still encouraged to sign up for some classes – beginners to learn technique and flow to get you started, intermediate-advanced practitioners to learn more skills and refinement.
All are welcome. Come out and play. Here are some of the jams happening in Ottawa:
Ottawa Circus School offers jams in collaboration with the City of Ottawa at City Hall on Laurier street every Tuesday evening in July and August from 6:30 to 9 pm, outside or inside depending on the weather.
Dovercourt Community Center offers hoop jams every second Friday evening from September to June.
International hooping community
Hooping.org is an online magazine posting daily articles and videos related to the international hoop community. It’s a great place to find inspiration or online tutorials and a ton of information about hooping today.
